Product Overview

1976 Martin D-76 Bicentennial Commemorative Limited Edition Acoustic Guitar

The C F Martin D 76 Bicentennial Limited Edition guitar was built during 1975 and 1976 to commemorate the two hundredth anniversary of the founding of the United States of America.

The 1976 Martin D-76 Bicentennial is a special edition acoustic guitar commemorating the United States Bicentennial. This model features exquisite craftsmanship and attention to detail, with a stunning design that pays homage to this significant milestone in American history. The Martin D-76 Bicentennial is known for its rich, resonant tone and exceptional playability, making it a highly sought-after collector's item among guitar enthusiasts. With its unique aesthetics and superb sound quality, this guitar is a true testament to Martin's dedication to quality and innovation.

The first 200 D-76 Bicentennial models appeared during 1975, with another 1,976 completing the run during 1976.

This model is based on the classic D body design, with an Adirondack Spruce top and sides, head plate and three-piece back of Indian Rosewood; the back sections have Herringbone separators. The neck is Mahogany, with Ebony for the fingerboard and bridge. Unique to this model, the fingerboard position markers are small five-pointed stars in Mother of Pearl, and an engraved Mother of Pearl Eagle is inlaid in the head plate.

At the time this C F Martin D 76 guitar was built, Martin was still using a fixed metal T Bar truss rod – this is not adjustable. As well, during this period Martin installed the pickguard and masked it off – before finishing the top. This often led to a distinctive shrinkage crack when the top and pickguard contracted at different rates. This is why the pickguard was removed, as pictured. We can replace the pickguard if you would like at no extra cost. However we are currently maintaining the guitar in it's 100% original condition.

This C F Martin D 76 example was built during 1976 at the historic Martin facility in Nazareth, Pennsylvania and it is number 1,843 of the 1,976 produced that year. It comes with the original blue Martin Hard Case

Due to this guitars price it is not eligible for free shipping. Instead the fixed shipping price includes professional level packaging and full insurance Australia wide to ensure it arrives to you safely.
