Ukulele Lessons

Ukulele Lessons,

The ukulele  from hawaii is a member of the lute family of instruments. It generally employs four nylon or gut strings or four courses of strings. Some strings may be paired in courses, giving the instrument a total of six or eight strings.

The ukulele originated in the 19th century as a Hawaiian adaptation of the Portugese Machette a small guitar-like instrument, which was introduced to Hawaii by Portugese Imigrants mainly from Madeira and the Azores. It gained great popularity elsewhere in the United States during the early 20th century and from there spread internationally.

The tone and volume of the instrument vary with size and construction. Ukuleles commonly come in four sizes: soprano, concert, tenor, and baritone.

Shana Hi my name is Shana. I teach singing, guitar and ukulele. I have a diploma in Music performance from Collarts, and in my final year of my Bachelor of creative arts degree majoring in Music and Media. As a performer myself, I am constantly playing shows at pubs, restaurants and private events. I coach a range of different voices, assisting with gaining confidence and the ability to perform well, extending vocal range and improving vocal tone. I also love helping my students to write songs if they wish to do so. I work mostly with children when teaching guitar and ukulele. I commit to being patient with your child so they can get the best results and start playing!
