Product Overview
Fender Lead II Wine Red Made in USA 1980 w/OHSC
The original concept for the Lead Guitar series was to have a guitar that was cheaper than the Stratocaster and be attractive to players because of the neck feel as well as the pickup options.
The Lead Series have elements of the Strato and Tele in their design with a body that is slightly smaller and with a slightly different shape than the Stratocaster, a Strat-like neck and headstock, and hardtail bridge with Telecaster-like string ferrules on the back of the body.
The Lead Series were manufactured at Fender's Fullerton, California plant between 1979-1981.
They were eventually replaced in Fender's line up by the Fender Japan JV model in 1982 as Fender expanded its operations by starting Fender Japan.
This guitar is in great condition for its age. All original hardware and stock X-1 High output pickups.
There is some checking in the finish which is extemely common for this era of Fenders. There are also some marks on the fretboard most notably at the 6th and 13th frets.
It plays and sounds amazing. Very rare to find these in Australia. It comes with the Original Hardshell Case.
This is a used guitar and may show some signs of wear, but is fully functional.
